The Panasonic model TR-001 television was introduced in 1970 and was the first truly pocket-sized television sold to the public. The picture was about 1 1/2 inches, measured diagonally, though a removable magnifier was provided. It used an internal NiCd rechargable battery, and could be run off the battery, the charger, or from an auto battery. A tiny speaker below the screen provides the sound.
