MOMA reissues the Aurora Clock
The classic mid-century clock gets an update with a broader spectrum of colors and a lower voltage LED backlight that adjusts to the brightness in the room. The original version had problems with the heat from the lamp melting the colored lens. Unfortunately, this upgrade comes with a hefty high price tag of $699.
Hi- I just wanted to contribute an update to this post: MoMA is no longer selling the Aurora. We are the only store currently selling the Aurora and are working directly with the manufacturer. The LEDs have been updated in 2019 producing the most saturated & vivid colors yet in this clock’s 50 year history. The Prisma Clock (also originally by Kirsch-Hamilton) has also been updated: https://clockforward.com/aurora-clock/
How can I acquire an Auroroa II clock?
It looks like MOMA and clock forward no longer carry the clock. You will have to search eBay.
I know of a guy who has four (4) NOS (new old stock) Auroras for sale, each in its factory original box with styrofoam inserts. The clocks are all perfect and are as though they were preserved in a time capsule.
