The RC-1000 features connections on the back for AM and FM antennas. This space age alarm clock has two alarm modes – chirp and radio. Both feature a one hour snooze option. An interesting design decision, which I don’t fully understand, is a switch on the back which toggles the display to minutes and seconds.
I have one and got about 18 years ago from an antique collective ship. I love the space age design and never really used as a color or radio and just plugged in when I first got it to see orbit was working. I had in my storage for about 10 years and thought I had lost and just rediscovered it a few days ago in my storage.
So today I tried to look for another one on eBay and couldn’t find one. Then I tried to find a YouTube video and couldn’t also find any. Yeah, that would make a great opportunity to make the first YouTube video, but I don’t think I would do that.
It seems like a basic alarm clock now and I should test to see if everything works. The only thing I’ve notice was the radio dial like have or one side is out and there’s something loose and shaking around. I tried today to open it and after taking off tye 7 or 9 screws, I couldn’t get the cover to open.
Yeah. It’s a great piece to have, but I seem to have a lot of things and considering selling, but I have no idea what to ask for. I know when there’s not one available on eBay, that’s a good sign and you can name your price.
It’s a beautiful design and I wonder how many units were sold in America?
