The Toshiba Time Switch is a device that can be used to turn an external device on or off. For example, you can plug in a lamp to the back of the device and then choose to have it shut off after a certain amount of time.

This must have been an earlier version of the Time Switch line because it can only be set to trigger for up to 12 hours. Later devices allowed for appliances to be turned on or off at the same time each day.
